MATTHEW J. FOGELMAN is a founding partner in the firm of Fogelman & Fogelman LLC. Mr. Fogelman has a diverse litigation practice focused on personal injury and employment law. Mr. Fogelman also provides counsel to businesses seeking alcoholic beverage licenses. Mr. Fogelman has significant experience in complex personal injury cases and emotionally-charged cases, including allegations of sexual abuse, wrongful death, and school bullying.

In the employment arena, Mr. Fogelman has litigated cases ranging from Wage Act and overtime cases to discrimination and harassment matters, for both plaintiffs and defendants. He has vast experience advising employees on non-compete and severance agreements. A former newspaper reporter, Mr. Fogelman has experience in First Amendment and defamation law, and has represented numerous clients pro bono, including journalists and prisoners in civil rights cases. Mr. Fogelman also served as a Plymouth County Special Assistant District Attorney in March 2004, and has since represented several clients in criminal defense matters and appeals.

Mr. Fogelman received his B.A. in English from Wesleyan University in 1997, where he was editor-in-chief of the newspaper, the Wesleyan Argus. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School in 2002 where he was a member of the Third World Law Journal. Mr. Fogelman has published an article in the University of Alabama Law School’s Journal of the Legal Profession concerning sleeping criminal defense attorneys. PDF link

Mr. Fogelman is a member of the American Bar and Massachusetts Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, New York, and before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce Lawyers’ Committee, and recently spoke on a panel on the power of Internet marketing. Mr. Fogelman was previously an associate with Todd & Weld LLP and Bingham McCutchen. He was named a “Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star” by Boston Magazine in 2007, 2010, and again in 2011.

Mr. Fogelman is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and a council member of the MBA's General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Section.
